In response to the needs of data sharing and exchange in joint operations of allied force, NATO has proposed a multilateral interoperability planning information model (MIM) for the command, control and simulation interoperability domain. MIM serves as the semantic reference model for the core data framework, supporting the development of interoperability specifications and their specific processes. This paper introduces the development requirements and development history of MIM, analyzes the method of MIM semantic information annotation model, summarizes the tools and services of MIM, and research how MIM supports oross-system information sharing as a semantic refernce model from the aspects of applicability and application strategy and specific application examples are given. It provides the basis for the development of the domestic semantic reference model and the data sharing and exchange in the joint operation of the multiple arms of the services.
