The US Armed Forces attaches great importance to intelligence preparation of joint operations environment. The concept and characteristics of this subject are of significant values of study. This thesis first reveals the evolution and development of the concept of operational environment, and then summarizes the main characteristics of intelligence preparation of the US joint operations environment: oriented to command and decision making, included in the intelligence cycle, emphasizing the selection of center of gravity, adopting graphs and matrixes, and strengthening computation and gaming. Based on the above-mentioned points, it then provides some considerations in the aspects of heightening awareness, perfecting constitutions, data services, support standards, and smart technologies with the purpose of inspiring and advancing the battlefield environment building of the PLA.
