Decision point is an important military term for U.S. Armed Forces and NATO national force, which is mainly used for the joint operation planning process and plays a very important role in improving the scientificity, practicality and flexibility of joint operation plan. Firstly, the foresight, diversity, criticality, relevance and authority of the concept of decision point is analyzed. Secondly, the difference and connection between decision point and decisive point, culminating point, center of gravity is discriminated. Finally, the timing and methods of the specific application of decision point in the joint operation planning are studied. It is expected to deepen the understanding of the joint operation planning of U.S. Armed Forces through the study of decision point, so as to provide enlightenment and reference for the joint operation planning of our army.
